UNSC is the abbreviated name for United Nations Security Council. It is the most commonly simulated main committee of the United Nations General Assembly on Model United Nations. The UNSC is one of the five principal organs of the UN. Its purpose is to provide maintenance of international peace and security as well as accepting new members to the United Nations and approving any changes to its United Nations Charter. SC’s powers include the establishment of peacekeeping operations, the establishment of international sanctions, and the authorization of military action through Security Council resolutions. The body’s five permanent members that were the victos of the II World War – the Soviet Union (Russia), United Kingdom, France, China (People’s Republik of China) and the United States of America. These permanent members can veto any substantive Security Council resolution, including those on the admission of new member states or candidates for Secretary-General.
Jakub Zalesiński: So… in the turbulences of organizing this MUN it turned out that I am supposed to be the Chair of the SC (not that the experience was one of the factors). Nevertheless, it is not to show off but to let you grasp a ephemeral particle of my persona. In such wise, I do enjoy watching TV series (however I do it more humanly than Canadian Prime Minister, meaning I do not pretend to do so, thus Scandal, Suits, and HoC and many more are in no mean unknown to me), reading British literature (so posh xd), and (undertone) self-betterment. I were supposed to include some quotation or alike bollocks as such but as you may see I did so in pretty finite extent.
Paulina Woźnicka: Ambitious and graceful – that’s how my friends describe me. Bearing in mind these two characteristics I decided to take up such a prestigious role as the Chair of Security Council on Wrocław MUN 2016 conference. After I debuted as a delegate on WrocMUN I was gaining experience on various conferences, in different committees. I’m young person but already keen on global issues. Beside debating I’m also interested in travelling, foreign languages and theatre.
Future delegates! I can’t wait to meet you in November!
