Security Council

The Second Libyan Civil War- addressing the issue of 2019 Western Libya offensive.

The Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security. Carefully observing the alarming issues in the world, all U.N.S.C. Member States are committed to preventing armed conflicts and peacefully solving existing ones, providing procedures for peaceful resolution of disputes. The priority of this peacekeeping body is to preserve the sovereignty of the nations, along with overwatching rights and dignity of all people. Under the Charter of the United Nations, all UN Member States are obligated to comply with Council decisions, a fact that emphasises the utmost importance of the SC. On this year’s conference, we decided to raise the issue of The Libyan Civil War, a conflict affecting the country since 2014. Since April 2019, the forces of the self-styled Libyan National Army launched an offensive to seize control of Tripoli, leading to instability drastically influencing all aspects of the functioning of the society. The international community is particularly concerned about the war crimes and crimes against humanity, that take place during the conflict. Committed to the values of security and freedom, reinforced in the theme of WrocMUN 2019 “Through conflicted past into peaceful future”, we do believe that the debates will provide the people of Libya with a solution to their misery.
